VETERANS, STAY IN THE LOOP There are exciting opportunities for volunteer service in Homeland security without maximum age and physical restrictions. Training will be provided in the area of your choice from a widely diverse list. You will be involved in activity according to your personal circumstance and to the degree which job and family responsibilities permit. You will not be involved in Law Enforcement or Military Operations. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY Retired and former service members maintain their skills and acquire new ones while serving their country as volunteers with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. After September 11, 2001, Auxiliary members volunteered promptly to serve as coxswain and crew on their vessels for Harbor Safety Patrols on the Delaware River. 30 coxswain and crew members from the 5th Northern district provided teams for 2 daily shifts over a 3 month period. The Auxiliary is recruiting another 3,000 members to bring their total to 40,000 in order to sustain their Coastal and Harbor patrol and expand their assistance to the Coast Guard. WHY VOLUNTEER? We invite you to be a member of our Flotilla. We will make your boating even more meaningful and enjoyable and increase your knowledge and expertise while helping the pleasure boaters in the classroom and on the water. Go to our "Join the Auxiliary" page and someone will contact you or just come to one of our meetings which are held on the second Monday of each month at the Gloucester Township Senior Center on Chews Landing Rd. Follow this link for directions.
